Paul Miller,

I'm the David who wrote the comment about the anti-Preval and anti-Mulet demonstration but not the David you're looking for.

Good luck.

Hi,

I am trying to contact David Wimhurst. If this is you
I am a New York based producer and am currently in production on a
feature documentary about the global use of soap operas and
telenovelas for encouraging positive social change. I was fascinated
by your article and would love to contact the people involved in
making the soaps in Camp Caradeux to see if they are planning to do
more filming in the coming months. We are looking for on going soaps
to film.
Thanks, in advance, for your help.
Best wishes,

My previous comment is not quite accurate. Mulet became head of MINUSTAH in June, 2006, after the Cité Soleil massacre, but once there he flatly denied any UN guilt in the matter. He left in August, 2007.

An article on AlterPresse says this demonstration was not just against Préval but also against Edmond Mulet, who was reappointed a couple of months ago as MINUSTAH chief after the death of Hedi Annabi, the former head, in the earthquake. That's particularly relevant to a demonstration violently repressed by MINUSTAH, since so many Haitians died at the hands of UN troops during Mulet's previous tenure as MINUSTAH boss, especially in the July 6, 2005, massacre in Cité Soleil, in which 70 people were shot to death. Mulet claimed criminal gangs had fired on UN troops but the troops in fact fired 22,000 rounds and their 70 victims were unarmed. See:
