I am happy that I came across this article. I am from Haiti, and I moved to the U.S. since I was five. I have been back to Haiti a couple times, and the last time I encountered the MINUSTAH troops down there. They did not seem to be doing much and I overheard some local people talking about how they did not understand why they were there because things were not really improving in terms of the political situation, and economic growth. I understand that the MINUSTAH troops are there to maintain peace, but I also feel that the people in Haiti are more concerned with getting jobs, helping the political system, fixing up homes, building schools, and other things that help people go on day by day. This is there main concern. If they had these things, the people in Haiti would not be so angry and uproar all the time and there would be no need for the MINUSTAH troops to be there trying to maintain peace. I believe that if the U.N. really wants to help, they should aid in heloing Haiti obtain the things that they really need and we can work from there. Again, thank You for this article. I found it completely enlightening.

Well done, Ansel. Thanks.
MINUSTAH's real mission, of course, is to make Haiti safe and profitable for the maquilas. Bill Clinton, who ought to be a persona non grata there, makes that clear.
